We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with substantial employee relations experience, although we also welcome applications from individuals who have gained significant experience leading complex people management processes and resolving workplace issues within operational or management roles.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Reporting to the Employee Relations Team Manager, you will support high-risk and sensitive casework, provide authoritative advice to managers and stakeholders, and contribute to the development of Employee Relations practice across the University. This is an exciting opportunity to influence organisational outcomes, support management capability and help shape a positive employee experience.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>What You&#39;ll Be Doing</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will provide expert advice and guidance on complex Employee Relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, organisational change and redundancy processes. Working closely with managers, employees, HR colleagues and Trade Union representatives, you will help resolve challenging issues while balancing legal, organisational and reputational considerations.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will support formal hearings and appeals, identify and mitigate risk, and act as an escalation point for complex ER enquiries. You will also contribute to ER process development, analyse casework trends and management information, and use these insights to promote consistency and continuous improvement across the University.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">In addition, you will help build management capability through coaching, guidance and training, while contributing Employee Relations expertise to organisational projects and change initiatives.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>About You</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will be an experienced Employee Relations professional with substantial experience of managing complex ER casework and advising managers in a large or complex organisation, or an experienced manager with extensive experience of managing complex ER situations.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will have strong knowledge of employment law, excellent communication and influencing skills, and the ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations with confidence and professionalism. You will be skilled at assessing risk, applying sound judgement and building effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">A Level 5 or Level 6 qualification (or equivalent experience) is essential.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">An exciting opportunity for someone with previous clinical trials experience to join the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU), within the University of Southampton, in an important role as Senior Trials Manager (STM) within the Early Diagnosis and Translational Group or Oncology Group.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">SCTU is a leading UK academic CTU located within the state-of-the-art Centre for Cancer Immunology building at Southampton General Hospital. <a href="https://www.southampton.ac.uk/research/institutes-centres/clinical-trials-unit">Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) | University of Southampton</a></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">SCTU is a UKCRC registered CTU and is core-funded by Cancer Research UK (CRUK) together with funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) via the Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and Research Support Service (RSS).&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">SCTU has expertise in the design, conduct and publication of clinical trials and other well-designed studies from first-in-human phase I to practice changing phase III trials to large early diagnosis observational studies with rich translational data. Managing a growing portfolio (75% cancer, 25% non-cancer) that covers the complete spectrum of clinical practice, from primary care through to tertiary referral medicine, including pan-cancer experimental therapeutics, surgery, radiotherapy and early diagnosis. Undertaking multi-centre early and late phase clinical trials, we work nationally and internationally to create the evidence for patient benefit that will directly influence routine clinical practice in the NHS and overseas.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">As part of the CRUK and NIHR infrastructure we have close working relationships with our partners, including the Southampton Experimental Cancer Research Centre, NIHR BRC &amp; RSS, University Hospital Southampton, the Centre for Cancer Immunology discovery community and CRUK Centres and Institutes across the UK, with an increasing number of international collaborations.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The Senior Trials Manager will lead the relevant portfolio team to ensure effective delivery of the overall strategy and delivery priorities for SCTU. This will include resource management, oversight of financial management, new trial development, grant applications, and the ability to anticipate and consider potential issues or opportunities which could affect delivery and growth of the relevant portfolio.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The appointed person must have proven experience of running clinical trials, with a focus on multistakeholder studies collecting patient samples for analysis, and including new trial development.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">This position is full time, or part time (minimum 0.6FTE), fixed term for 24 months.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The employing organisation is the University of Southampton which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement and other benefits.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">For informal queries please contact Nicole Keyworth, Portfolio Lead, on <a href="mailto:n.e.keyworth@soton.ac.uk">n.e.keyworth@soton.ac.uk</a></p>
