          <title><![CDATA[Paediatric asthma and allergy clinical research fellow (3386326AF)]]></title>

            <p style="margin-left:0cm;">The University of Southampton Faculty of Medicine is offering an appointment to be based within the Faculty of Medicine at Southampton General Hospital.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">This post holder will work within the paediatric respiratory and allergy research team. They will primarily being undertaking a trial focused on the prevention of childhood asthma. Additionally, they will provide some support to studies focused on preventing food allergy and managing acute severe childhood asthma. The post will provide practical training for a middle grade doctor in the conduct of clinical trials, focussing on supporting clinical trials through all stages including implementation and supporting sites in recruitment, regulatory approvals, data collection and integrity, data presentation and working with translational samples. The post is intended to provide valuable training in research governance and regulation for future clinical and translational researchers. There may be an option to undertake a higher degree.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The appointee will provide day to day medical support for study teams under supervision from Professor Graham Roberts (Professor of Paediatric Allergy and Respiratory Medicine). They will be involved in trial implementation and involvement in study protocol amendments and implementation including ethics committee documentation and R&amp;D submissions. Training in clinical trials methodology including Good Clinical Practice will be provided.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The post will be at registrar level and will require a medical qualification. It would be suitable for a trainee with relevant experience in paediatric medicine as out of program experience or for someone wishing to pursue a career in this specialty prior to obtaining a training number.<br>&nbsp;<br>The post will be a University appointment and does not have any direct clinical work. Duration of post to be discussed with the potential candidate but is 12 months in the first instance.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true"><strong>Post duration:</strong> 4 years full-time or up to 6 years part-time</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>Salary:</strong> AMNL &pound;46,675 to &pound;80,081 (for those below ST3 on 3 August 2016); CADT &pound;65,048 to &pound;73,992 (for those at or above ST3 on 3 August 2016),</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The Faculty of Medicine wishes to appoint an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer, hosted by one of the following clinical specialties: Clinical Genetics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology or General Surgery.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The post is intended for an applicant within any of these three specialities, with the speciality of the final (single) post dependent on the successful applicant.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The post-holder will be pursuing their development of research and teaching within either the Human Development and Health school or Cancer Sciences school of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">In this post-doctoral role, the successful candidate will be in specialist clinical training at ST3 level or above and have substantial experience of the relevant research areas, a proven track record of high-quality original research publications, the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary, multi-professional team and hold a corresponding NTN.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will join the NIHR Clinical Integrated Academic Training Programme at the University of Southampton, as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer.
