Perception / Cognition

The School of Psychology at the University of Southampton is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) with expertise in human perceptual or cognitive function. Your research interests should complement our existing expertise in visual and visual-haptic perception, attention, reading, learning, memory and meta-cognition. You will be able to evidence excellence in research and teaching, and have a growing track record evidenced by publications/grant seeking. PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Psychology.

The School of Psychology at Southampton is recognised as producing world-leading, high-impact research, supported by excellent research facilities (REF2014). These include purpose-built laboratories for behavioural studies with visual, haptic or multi-sensory stimuli. Our extensive research facilities also support immersive virtual reality, eye-tracking, electroencephalography (EEG), neuromodulation/transcranial stimulation, psychophysiology and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).  

Our School is one of the largest providers of postgraduate research training in the UK, offering a range of MSc programmes (Research Methods, Health and Clinical), research doctorates (PhD), and Doctoral Programmes in Clinical Psychology (DClin) and Educational Psychology (DEdPsy). 

We enjoy long-standing collaborations with University research groups in Biological Sciences (Neuroscience), Engineering, Computer Science, Psychiatry, Medicine, Education and Health Sciences. Our strategic partnerships with NHS Trusts, schools, Government and industry deliver world leading impact (REF2014) and attract significant funding from all major research funders.
