We are looking for a researcher to work in an EPSRC funded project at the University of Southampton, running until 30 September 2021 in the first instance.

The role is based in the School of Electronics and Computer Science, and working with Roke Manor, the Software Sustainability Institute and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  You will be responsible for delivering research as part of an interdisciplinary team led by Dr. Adriane Chapman. The wider team will also include staff from our partner organisations. The role is at the interface of provenance and machine learning and/or stream processing technologies, with a particular focus on provenance capture and usage.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to researching compressive sensing techniques for their usefulness in provenance capture and storage. The projects also involves developing ways to use this information, and quantify its effectiveness, write project reports, and produce refereed publications and present research findings to the community and (if appropriate) the public.

You should have a PhD* in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualifications and work experience.  You will be expected to report to the project group at regular meetings, and will also be responsible for preparation of publications and presentations at conferences and project meetings.  Essential skills include hands-on experience of modern data management tools, data processing techniques, and software engineering.

This is a full time fixed term role available until 30/09/2021 in the first instance.

*Applications will be considered from candidates who are nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
