We are part of the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine and we have close interdisciplinary links with other members of the faculty and wider University.

CLAS has an excellent reputation for innovation in Education and our principal role is the development and delivery of human anatomical sciences teaching for undergraduate students in the early years of the Bachelor of Medicine (BM) programmes. We also contribute to courses for a range of postgraduate professionals including surgeons, anaesthetists, and other health professionals.

Central to our method of delivery is a student-centred approach providing students with a resource-rich environment in which to study. Students undertake a range of activities using high quality bespoke prosected specimens, plastinated and museum specimens, plastic models, bones, imaging material and eLearning packages. In addition, we may facilitate dissection and research projects for students with a particular interest in anatomy or anatomical education.

Our team comprises the Head of Group, 1 Principal Teaching Fellow, 1 Senior Teaching Fellow, 2 Teaching Fellows and an Education Support Technician, Laboratory Manager, Deputy Laboratory Manager, Learning Resources Technician and 2 Anatomy Laboratory Technicians. Our work is supported by the CLAS administrator/bequest secretary.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of anatomy and its sub-disciplines, experience in demonstrating anatomy in practical classes, be enthusiastic and flexible in supporting staff in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. We are looking for someone that is keen to participate fully in the intellectual and academic activities of a lively and committed department which values collegiality highly with the aim to deliver the highest quality student experience.
