The University of Southampton invites applicants to join its newly established UKRI funded Clean Air Champion programme which is part of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Clean Air programme.  The Champions will bring together the UK’s world-class air quality research base to develop practical solutions for air quality issues. The champions representing the University are Stephen Holgate, MRC Clinical Professor of Immunopharmacology, and Dr Jenny Baverstock, Senior Collaboration Fellow and fellow champion Professor Martin Williams, Head of Science Policy and Epidemiology team at King’s College London.

This post is part of the Faculty of Medicine, School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences, and will be located on Highfield Campus.  The role will ensure the provision of comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support for the Clean Air Champion (CAC) Team. The post holder will need to apply judgement and provide detailed, specialist advice and guidance as required, being responsible for the delivery of a high quality and efficient service for the management of their activities.

You will provide professional, operational assistance and administrative support to busy, dynamic clinical and non-clinical academics and stakeholder teams, including project management and data management, diary management, travel arrangements, organising and servicing meetings and conferences, managing electronic storage of data, website management and financial administration. You must have previous work experience within an administrative/secretarial role and be able to use your own initiative, as well as independently problem-solve and manage your own time effectively with minimum supervision.

You will be a team player with a keen eye for detail and a flexible, can-do attitude. You will have excellent IT and inter-personal skills with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.  Relevant knowledge of University processes/systems and previous research support or research council experience is desirable.

Flexible working hours will be considered for this role.
