The University of Southampton is a research-intensive university, with research income in excess of £125 million.  Research and Innovation Services (RIS) is strengthening its Research Funding Development team to support that success and to provide academic and research colleagues, expert advice and assistance in research funding (UK/international), bid support and management.

We are seeking to recruit a Research Funding Officer.  You will provide researchers with timely information and intelligence about forthcoming funding opportunities, supporting internal peer review processes, tracking a portfolio of grant applications and outcomes, and assisting with initiatives to support the University’s performance in securing external research funding – particularly focusing on early career researchers.  Part of a specialist research support team, you will advise and support research staff throughout the research grant application preparation process to ensure that high-quality bids are submitted.  

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will be well-organised with the ability to multi-task and to work well as part of a busy team. You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment.  You will have excellent communication skills in a customer-focused environment.  Experience in working in a research support capacity within the Higher Education sector would be advantageous.
