The Student Experience Directorate at the University of Southampton is seeking to appoint a Business Change and Engagement Manager. This is a new role that is responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of the Student Experience Programme, a key transformation programme that will seek to develop our approach to the delivery of services for students. This will enable rapid development of the student experience and will contribute directly to the University’s Strategic Plan and its aims to improve the student experience.

The role is primarily benefits focussed and will act as the bridge between the change programme and the business. The role holder will ensure that the business is engaged with the programme, that they contribute effectively and that the outputs of projects and programmes are fit for purpose when handed back into business as usual.

Critically, the role will be responsible for internal communications and delivering a coordinated communications plan, including providing advice on relevant messaging and content and delivery methods. The role holder will work to design, manage and deliver engagement initiatives both within Student Experience and across the university to develop a deeper understanding of the ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ states of activities that will change as a result of the Programme. They will have a key role in engaging with key stakeholders, including academic colleagues and those within faculties, in order to better understand their needs and to enable change. Most importantly, the role holder will have a role in engaging with our student population to ensure that we hear their voice in the work that we undertake.

We are seeking a colleague who has significant demonstrable experience of supporting the delivery of change programmes in a large organisation. They must have experience of engaging colleagues at all levels in a Higher Education environment. They should have excellent organisational and project management skills and be able to deliver to deadlines and manage multiple activities. They will be a confident and credible individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

This post is offered on a 3-year fixed-term basis and is offered on the salary range of £39,152 to £49,553 depending on level of experience. Further benefits of this role also include the opportunity to join the University pension scheme, 30 days annual leave and access to a number of employee discount schemes.
