The Southampton Theoretical Physics & Applied Mathematics Group is offering a one-year postdoctoral position in high-energy physics, starting 1 October 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake research within a Royal Society-funded project to investigate superstring scattering amplitudes using the pure spinor formalism or closely related topics. 

The University of Southampton (UK) is home to a large research group in string theory and astrophysics. The Group currently comprises about 15 academic members of staff and advanced research fellows as well as a number of postdocs and research students. Research interests in the group cover string theory and holography, neutron-star astrophysics, gravitational waves, and aspects of particle and nuclear physics. The group is part of the STAG Research Centre and has close ties with the Department of Physics and Astronomy. 

In order to be considered for this post, the applicant must have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification in Physics or a related discipline and have a track record in at least one of the following research areas: pure spinor formalism, scattering amplitudes.
