Associate Professor in Fashion

Winchester School of Art (WSA), University of Southampton, seeks to appoint an Associate Professor in the area of Fashion with an ability to contribute to postgraduate and undergraduate Fashion Management programmes.

As part of a world-renowned Russell Group University with a global reputation for academic excellence, WSA offers a stimulating, dynamic, and research-intensive work environment. WSA has an established international research profile and reputation, with almost 80 percent of its research rated as world-leading or internationally excellent in REF 2014.

We are seeking an Associate Professor in Fashion, with expertise in Fashion Management/Marketing and/or Fashion Theory/History to join the School and contribute to research in their area of specialism. It is an exciting time to join WSA, and the successful applicant will play an important role in the development of the School’s research and teaching trajectory. The successful applicant will be able to work with, and contribute to the development of, one or more of the School’s research groups: Winchester Luxury Research Group; Critical Practices in Art and Design; Archaeologies of Media and Technology; Transforming Creativity. Fashion subject expertise that aligns with one or more of the School’s research groups is particularly welcome.

We are looking for an outstanding individual with a proven track record as an internationally and nationally recognized researcher, who will bring a high profile through research outputs of internationally excellent or world leading standard. The successful applicant will join a team of internationally renowned researchers, to contribute to the further development of the high quality research environment at WSA. 

Successful applicant will be able demonstrate their experience of producing high-quality research outputs, supervising doctoral and postgraduate students, developing and leading on research grants, furthering and fostering non-HEI research-led partnerships and impact related activities. In addition, a capacity to undertake management responsibilities is sought, and an ability to offer inspirational approaches to teaching Fashion Management is required.
