            <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">The University of Southampton (UoS) is seeking a Research Fellow to design and implement a software framework for the assessment of hand biometric authentication for use in forensic application.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge biometric research at the intersection of computer science and digital identity technologies. Funded by the United Nation Safe Online scheme, and working in collaboration with Michigan State University in the US, the Fellow will lead the development of a software forensic assessment tool to assess in the identification of suspects using biometric hand imagery. This is a fixed term post until 06/07/2026 to cover maternity leave.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>Southampton Clinical Trials Unit</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The University of Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) is a Cancer Research UK core-funded, UKCRC registered trials unit. The unit supports researchers across the UK and internationally to help design, conduct, analyse and disseminate clinical trials and observational studies that target important clinical and social health care questions.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>The role</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The unit is seeking to employ a senior medical statistician with experience of working on clinical trials in a regulated environment. The post is covering maternity leave, and will have responsibilities for delivering the urological cancer portfolio, which includes two large phase 3 trials in bladder and prostate cancer. You will work with junior statisticians and statistical programmers to oversee delivery of trial reports. You will plan work and communicate with the Head of Group in Statistics to support management of workload across the team. You will lead communication with chief investigators and the wider trial team on methodological issues, and more broadly support the SCTU to deliver the assigned trials.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The role requires knowledge of the application of statistical methods to cancer trials, as well as activities relating to obtaining funding and dissemination of study results. Familiarity with statistical software such as Stata, SAS and/or R is essential.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">A Research Technician position is available in the Centre for Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital. This is a newly constructed, dedicated research building that is the result of a significant fund-raising campaign. It builds on a 40 year history of pioneering immunology and cancer research at Southampton, and represents the first dedicated cancer immunology centre in the UK. The activities in this centre span from pioneering discovery science to applied research and preclinical modelling and, crucially, onto first-in-human clinical trials and beyond. The centre houses world-class research facilities, including state-of-the-art scientific laboratories and a clinical trials unit.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The position is associated with the laboratory of Professors Ward and Ober. Their interdisciplinary research program is dedicated to the development of novel antibody-based therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and autoimmunity. This research has led to several therapeutics that are currently in advanced clinical trials or approved for clinical use. The group also develops advanced microscopy techniques for the evaluation of novel therapeutics in cellular environments. Their research is supported by major grants from the Welcome Trust, Cancer Research UK and support from collaborating biopharma companies.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The appointee will be highly motivated and excited by the challenges involved in supporting a dynamic, interdisciplinary group of researchers. The appointee&rsquo;s role will be to provide support with the day-to-day running of the laboratory by providing technical support for the experimental work of post-doctoral fellows, research scientists and graduate students, combined with the ordering and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and supplies. The position holder will be expected to be familiar with biosafety and other regulatory processes and follow these procedures as necessary.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">It is essential to have a skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant technical support roles and job-related training. The role requires the ability to plan and organise your workload, work well under pressure and communicate effectively and professionally with other laboratory members. A scientific knowledge in a biological field equivalent to B.Sc. level is extremely desirable.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The post-holder will possess relevant academic qualifications and work experience as well as good IT skills.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The position is for one year.             <p data-pasted="true">The School of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow in Phanerozoic Ocean Biogeochemistry and Earth System Evolution. The successful applicant will work on the development and application of the cGENIE Earth system model for the NERC Pushing the Frontiers project &ldquo;Determining extinction correlates on geological timescales&rdquo;, under the supervision of institutional lead Dr. Richard Stockey and in collaboration with team members at the University of Oxford (Project Lead Prof. Erin Saupe) and the University of Leeds (Project Co-Lead Prof. Ben Mills).&nbsp;</p><p>The post holder will specifically work to generate a series of reconstructive models of 3D ocean biogeochemistry through the Phanerozoic (last ~540 million years). A key focus of this role is to explore uncertainty in three-dimensional ocean biogeochemistry over this time interval and its implications for geochemical proxy records and marine ecosystems.&nbsp;</p><p>This is a relatively short-term, specialist Earth system modelling position (15-month duration). The post holder is therefore expected to have prior experience in intermediate complexity Earth system modelling and experience integrating key components of Earth system evolution on these timescales, or a strong track record in developing and deploying new skills in computational Earth Science research.&nbsp;</p><p>The successful candidate will either hold, or be nearing completion of, a relevant PhD/DPhil and will have appropriate research experience alongside strong subject-specific expertise. They should be capable of working independently within established research programmes, managing their own research activities and contributing to academic publications. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to present research ideas and findings clearly, as well as representing the research group effectively in meetings and collaborative discussions.</p>

            <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">An exciting opportunity is available for a talented qualitative researcher to join a successful team in the Primary Care Research Centre to conduct qualitative research and intervention planning for a primary care practitioner intervention to support autistic/ADHD/AuDHD adults with mental health problems The post is available under the supervision of Dr Hannah Bowers in close collaboration with the wider MINDS study team.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for conducting qualitative interviews with primary care practitioners, analysing qualitative data and conducting stakeholder and lived experience workshops. The role will also include planning an intervention using the Person-Based Approach. There will be opportunities to contribute to other elements of the research subject to capacity and competencies.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Applicants will have experience of conducting qualitative research. You will also have experience of working collaboratively with diverse teams. Successful applicants will have demonstrated their ability to work independently and efficiently in a research context and will have excellent written English skills with meticulous attention to detail.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">The University of Southampton has been awarded funding to develop and host a Public Health National Specialist Centre (PHNSC). The PHNSC provides research advice nationally for Public Health research projects seeking funding within specific areas and including development of award applications, advice on setting up studies, collaboration opportunities and support for PPIE and a Public Health Enabling Research Service (PHERcS), producing guidance, toolkits, governance and ethics and Public Health research delivery in non-NHS settings to equip organisations to host/sponsor their own research and understand the responsibilities and risks.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Regionally, the service is available for researchers for training, events and support to increase capability in Public Health research and for local authority partners creating learning partnerships to understand and respond to Public Health research needs and increase Public Health research capacity.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>About the Role</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The Research Ethics &amp; Publication Support Manager will support our ongoing work in supporting the ethics, governance outputs of the research process. The role holder will work with the&nbsp;Research Ethics &amp; Governance Support Senior Manager to manage the operation of the Public Health Research Ethics Committee (PHREC) and to manage a publication resource hosted on the University of Southampton website.&nbsp;This role will work within the PHERcS team to help support researchers in non-NHS settings to be research active.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will have knowledge and experience of research within the public health sector, and to be able to work collaboratively to project delivery dates.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">We are delighted to welcome applications for the position of Research Fellow within the Integrating Citizen Deliberation for Impact (i4i) project, an international collaboration to examine the variety of ways that national and subnational European climate assemblies have been differently connected to their respective political-administrative systems and how this shapes their polity, policy and political impacts (see: <a href="https://i4i-project.com/">https://i4i-project.com/</a>).</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The post holder will develop the cross-cutting conceptual schemes and empirical analyses that unite the different work packages of the project. This will primarily include carrying out a Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) of the integration and impacts of European climate assemblies and writing academic outputs that conceptualise integration and impacts of public participation, as well as presenting the findings of the empirical analysis of the relationship between the two. This work will be carried out under the supervision of Rikki Dean (principal investigator of the project).</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">This research position will be based in the Department of Politics and International Relations within the Faculty of Social Sciences, at the University of Southampton where Dr Dean is based. You will join a team of researchers based across the UK, Belgium, Germany and Poland, as well as a supportive Department that contains the largest concentration of democratic innovations scholars in Europe.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">To be successful in this role you will have completed your PhD in a relevant discipline (or equivalent professional qualifications). You will have facility with building theoretical frameworks, as well as an interest in mixed-methods research; have the ability to plan and organise work independently and as part of a team; and have the ability to write research presentations and papers for peer review publication. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering user training, creating support documentation, process development, initial fault investigations, preventative maintenance tasks, consumable ordering, and re-qualification for the facilities toolset (9 tools total). They will provide specialist advice, recommendations on complex issues, and develop operational best practices to support research, enterprise, and commercial activities. Some support of relevant thin film characterisation tools will also be included.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Applicants will have experience of a semiconductor fabrication cleanroom environment performing thin film processing at wafer scale. They will be experienced and knowledgeable in some or all fields of PECVD, ALD, and dry-etch plasma processing at a practical and theoretical level, plus relevant thin film characterisation techniques. PSDI aims to enable researchers in physical sciences to discover, capture, manage and share research data more easily by connecting and enhancing the different data infrastructures they use. &nbsp;</p><p><strong>About the role</strong></p><p>We are looking for someone with a background in the physical sciences, excellent communication skills and a passion for data and metadata to join our team to help to develop PSDI&rsquo;s content in line with community best practices.</p><p>You will partner with academic researchers in the physical sciences to guide them when they plan, collect and share their data outputs, and capture corresponding descriptive metadata. You will undertake these tasks when onboarding resources to PSDI, providing consultancy, training or delivering presentations. You will proactively progress these projects toward end goals, reviewing previous actions, addressing blockers and identifying next steps.&nbsp;</p><p>There is a vibrant wider community who are developing best practices in this area and implementing them in various ways &ndash; you will show a keen interest in working with them and keeping up to date with these developments.</p><p>You must have a master&rsquo;s degree, equivalent professional qualifications or experience in a physical sciences subject.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">The Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) draws together a wide range of disciplines into two high-performing schools across several locations in the cities of Southampton and Winchester. Winchester School of Art is one of only a few specialist art schools based at a Russell Group university, offering a range of UG, PGT, and doctoral programmes. Between both schools, the faculty also holds several esteemed research centres and institutes including the Southampton Institute for Arts and Humanities (SIAH) and the Centre for International Film Research.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">We have an exciting opportunity within the FAH Faculty Operations Services for a Research and Enterprise Manager. In this role, you will lead and manage the Faculty&rsquo;s research and enterprise administration, ensuring effective delivery of compliance, data governance, and implementation of strategic support for REF, KEF and Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise (KEE) activity. The role provides specialist professional advice, supports key processes and systems, and works closely with the Associate Dean for Research and Enterprise and senior colleagues to implement the Faculty&rsquo;s Research and Enterprise strategies.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>About you</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will have excellent technical and communication skills, with the ability to manage your own workload. You should have a knowledge of the HEI environment, with particular knowledge on on REF and impact. You should have a strong level of proactivity, teamwork, and communication skills.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">We are seeking to recruit 2 Research Fellows in Marine Biogeochemistry to undertake research into the processes controlling biological productivity and trace element supply in the Southern Ocean. Based within the School of Ocean and Earth Science (SOES) of the University of Southampton and located at the National Oceanography Southampton (NOCS), the role will focus on the analysis of samples and observational and experimental data from the Southern Ocean within the NERC funded &lsquo;Iron and Manganese Impacts on the Future of Southern Ocean Ecosystems (Iron-Man)&rsquo; project.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Applicants should have a PhD* or equivalent in biological oceanography / marine biogeochemistry (or a related field). You would be expected to undertake sample and data analyses originating from the recent research expedition associated with the project and disseminate key aspects of the research project related to phytoplankton ecophysiology, trace element supply and biogeochemical cycling. Knowledge or experience of at sea observational and/or experimental work, or data analysis thereof, related to phytoplankton/microbial ecology/physiology and trace elements would be advantageous. Strong quantitative and communication skills, and the ability to conduct innovative research resulting in publications in international refereed journals are essential.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The successful applicants will be provided with a supportive and rewarding environment for further development of their knowledge, skills and experience, including through working as part of a large interdisciplinary oceanographic team comprised of sea-going phytoplankton and zooplankton ecologists, nutrient and trace metal biogeochemists and experts in ocean modelling. Under the guidance and support of the project (co-)PIs you will be encouraged to explore your own research interests, within the broader constraints of the overall project objectives. You will join a team led by Profs.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true"><strong>A Research Technician position is available in the Centre for Cancer Immunology at Southampton General Hospital. This is a newly constructed, dedicated research building that is the result of a significant fund-raising campaign. It builds on a 40 year history of pioneering immunology and cancer research at Southampton, and represents the first dedicated cancer immunology centre in the UK. The activities in this centre span from pioneering discovery science to applied research and preclinical modelling and, crucially, onto first-in-human clinical trials and beyond. The centre houses world-class research facilities, including state-of-the-art scientific laboratories and a clinical trials unit.</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The position is associated with the laboratory of Professors Ward and Ober. Their interdisciplinary research program is dedicated to the development of novel antibody-based therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and autoimmunity. This research has led to several therapeutics that are currently in advanced clinical trials or approved for clinical use. The group also develops advanced microscopy techniques for the evaluation of novel therapeutics in cellular environments. Their research is supported by major grants from the Welcome Trust, Cancer Research UK and support from collaborating biopharma companies.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The appointee will be highly motivated and excited by the challenges involved in supporting a dynamic, interdisciplinary group of researchers. The appointee&rsquo;s role will be to provide support with the day-to-day running of the laboratory by providing technical support for the experimental work of post-doctoral fellows, research scientists and graduate students, combined with the ordering and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and supplies. The position holder will be expected to be familiar with biosafety and other regulatory processes and follow these procedures as necessary.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">It is essential to have a skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant technical support roles and job-related training. The role requires the ability to plan and organise your workload, work well under pressure and communicate effectively and professionally with other laboratory members. A scientific knowledge in a biological field equivalent to B.Sc. level is extremely desirable.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The post-holder will possess relevant academic qualifications and work experience as well as good IT skills.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The position is for one year.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">The University of Southampton is seeking to appoint a post-doctoral Research Fellow for 30 months (with the possibility of extension). The Fellow will support the AHRC-Funded project &#39;Strange Geographies: Spatial Imaginaries of Medieval Britain, c.1200-1500&rsquo;, a collaboration between Southampton, Queen Mary University of London, the University of Cambridge, and a range of heritage and creative partners.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">&lsquo;Strange Geographies&rsquo; focuses on an under-explored body of manuscript sources containing geographical material produced between 1200 and 1500. It will itemize, contextualize and interpret these sources to understand their role in shaping medieval spatial imaginaries, identities, and wider histories of geography. Through collaborations with musicians, poets and heritage partners, the project will also explore potential of creative collaborations to open up new ways of connecting people to the places and spaces of the past.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The Fellow will carry out library and archive-based research into medieval manuscript resources across the British Isles and occasionally overseas, as well as desk-based research, transcription, editing, and preparing materials for web publication under the direction of the project lead and co-leads. You will contribute to the project dissemination by organising and participating in conference panels, workshops, and public engagement activities. You will publish academic outputs individually and in collaboration with the project lead and co-leads.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will have completed a PhD in a relevant medieval subject and will have good reading and transcription competence in medieval Latin as well as demonstrable experience of working with medieval manuscripts (including from the British Isles). In addition to these essential disciplinary research skills, you will have strong organisational skills.
