            <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true"><strong>An exciting opportunity to join the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU), within the University of Southampton, as a Trial Assistant.</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU) is a UK Cancer Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered unit and was set up in 2006 to design and conduct academically led clinical trials. The Unit employs trial managers, data managers, statisticians, regulatory staff and administrative support staff. We manage a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice. The Unit is core funded by Cancer Research UK, has support funding from the NHS National Institute for Health Research, and is based at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>The Role</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">We have an exciting opportunity to work within the CTU. You will work with other colleagues in a team supporting our trial management team and will take responsibility for providing high quality administrative support across a range of activities.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>About You</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">You will be a team player with a keen eye for detail and a flexible, can-do attitude. You will have excellent IT and inter-personal skills with a commitment to providing excellent customer service. Previous work experience within an administrative or secretarial support role within a research environment is required.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>Terms of Appointment</strong></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The employing organisation is the University of Southampton which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme and other benefits. The post is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract. Excellence in health &amp; safety management and performance is critical to the continuing and developing success of our exceptional institution.</p><p>We require a Radiation Protection / Health and Safety Officer to join our team of health &amp; safety professionals. In addition to specialist radiation knowledge, you will need to be able to apply general expertise in health and safety to support the University activities.</p><p>The role is responsible for development, implementation and review of the radiation protection management system that ensures the University maintains its compliance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 and the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2016</p><p>Main responsibilities:</p><ul><li>In liaison with the external RPA/RWA, to provide radiation protection advice and support to a wide range of research streams, and to promote continuous improvement of measures to reduce risk and exposure to ALARP.</li><li>To manage the University&rsquo;s Environmental Permits for radioactive waste disposal, and to provide oversight of its radiation protection management system.</li><li>In liaison with the RWA, to provide advice on the best available techniques for management and disposal of radioactive waste to ensure compliance with the University&rsquo;s Permits.</li><li>To coordinate provision of dosimetry across the University.</li><li>To carry out internal audits and inspections of the Faculties working with ionising radiations.</li><li>To develop and deliver radiation protection training.</li><li>To liaise with relevant regulators, including EA, HSE, CTSA and Fire Service.</li><li>To provide general health and safety advice to academic schools and professional services within the University.</li></ul><p>Ideally, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of radiation protection and health and safety expertise, ideally in an education or research environment. Suitable applicants from other sectors will be considered. Applications from individuals working towards RPA/RWA accreditation will also be considered. NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health &amp; Safety (or equivalent) would be desirable, but is not a requirement.</p>

Skilled at building relationships quickly, you will work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across the University and the Students&rsquo; Union to deliver shared goals. Your creativity and experience in producing innovative, audience-focused communications campaigns will help you engage students in meaningful and exciting ways.</p><p>Highly organised and proactive, you are comfortable managing multiple priorities, working independently, and using insight and initiative to solve problems and generate new ideas. You will also be an excellent communicator with strong digital and IT skills.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;">The WorldPop research group, within the School of Geography and Environmental Sciences at the University of Southampton is an award winning, multi-sectoral team of researchers, technicians and project specialists working on producing data on population distributions and characteristics at high spatial resolution. <a href="https://www.southampton.ac.uk/research/groups/worldpop">WorldPop | University of Southampton</a></p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">WorldPop has a diverse portfolio of projects, including large multi-million-pound collaborative projects with partner organisations, such as the Gates Foundation, the Gavi Vaccine Alliances, UN agencies, commercial data providers and other international development organisations.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">We are seeking to recruit a Finance Manager to provide effective financial management to WorldPop&rsquo;s activities. Operationally the post holder will oversee the WorldPop Group finances, seeking to provide financial advice, guidance and management information of funded projects. The post holder will work closely with other areas of Finance supporting the process for the approval of costings and contracts and acting as the focal point of contact for all research and enterprise contracts and international project partners.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">As a successful Business Partner the post holder will work with the WorldPop Senior Leadership Team developing a financial sustainability plan for WorldPop helping the group achieve its strategic financial objectives.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The successful candidate will have experience in financially managing externally funded projects working as part of a programme team and should be able to demonstrate significant knowledge of accounting standards. Candidates with previous experience in higher education accounting, internationally funded project reporting, budget setting and reconciliation will be looked on favourably.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">A flexible working pattern at a minimum of 80% full time equivalent will be considered for this role. The successful candidate will be line managed by the Deputy Head of Faculty Finance and work under the supervision of the WorldPop Programme Manager and Director at the Highfield campus of the University of Southampton.
