Looking to take the next step in your academic career? Look no further - the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment have an exciting opportunity for you to join one of the UK’s most dynamic centres for infrastructure engineering research and education.

You will be working on the EPSRC-funded project ‘SAFER: Seismic Safety and Resilience of Schools in Nepal [EP/P028926/1]’. This collaborative project is led by University of Southampton and University of Bristol from the UK, and involves a number of overseas universities and industry partners and aims to develop innovative solutions for earthquake risk reduction and seismic resilience of school building structures in developing countries. You will work in the work package 3 on experimental investigation and numerical modelling of masonry infilled reinforced concrete frames with and without strengthening, at the University of Southampton. This work package is in close collaboration with Dr Andreas Stavridis, our academic partner, at the SUNY Buffalo in the US.

To be successful, you will hold a PhD or equivalent/equivalent professional qualification and experience in structural engineering, earthquake engineering, computational mechanics or related disciplines. A good understanding of multi-scale finite element modelling, data analysis, and programming for this position is essential as is a track record of producing high-quality peer reviewed publications and the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience in conducting large-scale experimental testing would be beneficial.
