TRIAL MANAGER – DEFINE Study (Determining the Effectiveness of of a FeNO-guided asthma management INtervEntion in primary care)

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Trial manager to work on a multi-centre trial of a newly developed online intervention which uses a breath test called fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) to help improve the management of asthma in primary care. The trial is funded by the NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research. You will work as part of a research team at the University of Southampton and as part of the wider DEFINE study team, which includes researchers at the University of Oxford and University of Nottingham. As Trial Manager you will take overall responsibility for the set up and quality control of the Southampton recruitment centre. You will lead the set up and day to day management of multiple primary care practices in the Wessex region. You will be line-managed by Prof Nick Francis, who is the Principal Investigator for the Southampton recruitment centre, and will work closely with the Southampton DEFINE Study Research Nurse, the DEFINE Trial Manager based at the University of Oxford, the Trial Coordinator at the University of Nottingham, and the rest of the DEFINE study team. As trial manager, you will be involved in guiding, coordinating, and monitoring activity across the Wessex region to ensure efficient and appropriate recruitment and retention of sites and participants. This post is being offered on a part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed term basis until 30th April 2024, starting ASAP. You will be based at Aldermoor Health Centre. You may be required to travel within the region and, occasionally, to the other collaborators on this project. You will have a degree in a health-related discipline or equivalent experience. And you will have knowledge and experience of medical research methodology and statutory clinical trial regulations, GCP and research governance requirements. Preferably, you will have experience of set-up, managing, and closing a primary care trial, as well as experience of managing multiple sources of trial data. You will have demonstrated your ability to work efficiently both independently and in teams in a research context and will have excellent written and spoken communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
