An exciting opportunity to support the transformation of assessment practice at the University of Southampton.

About the role

We have begun work on a Strategic Major Project (SMP) called Advancing Assessment that aims to develop assessment practice and technology across the university. The project will look at every aspect of assessment over the next 5 years, building on existing practice. Through co-design we aim to engage staff and students in developing robust, valid and exciting assessment.

We are building our assessment consultancy team which will sit within the University’s Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP) and we are looking for dynamic and experienced staff who can help support assessment design and development. 

We are looking to recruit five posts, which includes one permanent role and four fixed-term roles (for 2 years in the first instance). Fixed-term secondments will be considered for internal applicants.  

About you

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator to join our friendly and supportive team and use your knowledge and expertise in assessment practice to help expand and enhance provision for staff across the institution and contribute to academic professional development as part of high-profile strategic project.

  • National and international trends and innovation in assessment design and delivery, especially STEM

The Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP) provides support for academic staff at the University of Southampton. The Centre is located with Southampton’s Faculty of Social Sciences but serves the whole University, providing comprehensive world-leading professional development for staff and doctoral researchers at all stages of their career development. We are among the few institutions in which the support for all academic activity (Education, Research and Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise (KEE)) is provided from the same central team and play a pivotal role in supporting the realization of the University of Southampton’s Strategy.
