We are excited to offer a position based within the Curriculum Engagement team in the Library. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, and proactive Engagement Librarian specialising in Curriculum Engagement, to support the University's online and distance learning. You will engage with staff and students to promote and develop curriculum development and diversity, and digital literacy within the curriculum and alongside the curriculum. This will include teaching, training and curriculum development and diversity. You will support the online delivery of several courses. This will include online teaching using the Library Research Skills Framework, and support for students who are studying remotely. The role also requires the ability to apply judgement and provide detailed, specialist advice and guidance on information and digital literacy.

In particular, the post-holder will: 

  • Engage with the academic community to gain early insight into curriculum development. 
  • Work in partnership with Schools, particularly through programme and module leads, and with CHEP, to ensure that learning outcomes relating to information management, digital literacy and academic/research integrity are effectively embedded, and that students can engage in imaginative and distinctive ways with in-curriculum and co-curricular learning. 
  • Work closely with the programme leads for online and distance learning to ensure students have the resources they need to study remotely. 
  • Work closely with the Library's Collections Team to ensure that we have the correct licensing agreements in place for those resources.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure that our collections are diversified as part of curriculum planning and made available in user focused and accessible ways. 
  • Have expert knowledge of digital skills development, approaches to literature searching, assessing provenance of information and veracity of sources, and approaches to referencing and avoidance of plagiarism. 
  • Have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service in supporting enquiries.

We are seeking candidates with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience of delivering online teaching of information and digital literacy skills. We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates with a good knowledge and hands on experience in working in partnership with the academic community to develop embedded teaching of skills.
