Clinical research in Psychiatry

The Faculty of Medicine and Southern Health Foundation Trust (SHFT) are collaborating on clinical research studies, led by Professor Sam Chamberlain. This is an excellent opportunity for a postgraduate candidate with strong research and organisational skills to develop their expertise in psychiatry research in the area of gambling disorder and related impulsive-compulsive conditions. Applications are invited from enthusiastic early-stage researchers to join the research team, who are medically registered with the GMC, have completed a PhD, and have undertaken some degree of training on a UK deanery/HEE (or equivalent) approved psychiatry training programme.

The Role involves assisting Professor Chamberlain to develop clinical and research protocols and grant submissions, and participation in related research activities. The role would suit someone who wishes to take a year out of psychiatric training to help build a further research portfolio and experience. There would also be opportunities, via an Honorary Contract with Southern Health, to gain experience in clinical assessments of gambling disorder and related conditions (including training in relation to clinical measurement tools).
