Senior Research Fellow in Genomic Informatics

The PCD Research Group at the University of Southampton School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences, Faculty of Medicine is based within University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).  We are one of three national centres providing multidisciplinary diagnostic-management services for referred patients, supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic and research facilities facilitating a world leading research programme.

We are delighted to be recruiting a Senior Research Fellow to develop an artificial intelligence/machine learning bioinformatics method for integrating the analysis of prospectively collected (and continued) high throughput data including genomic, transcriptomic, and other ‘Omics data and longitudinal clinical and diagnostic data to support functional interpretation.

This ERE research level 5 role is funded by a prestigious Great Ormond Street Charity national funding call 2024 for a fixed term of 2 years, based on a full-time contract. Part-time options for an extended period within the grant timing may be negotiable. The post holder would be encouraged and supported to apply for further substantive research funding and be given opportunities and support to develop towards a senior academic career.

The appointee will have direct responsibility to PCD group Senior Research Fellow in Respiratory theme of the School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences (grant holder) but also to Professors based in the Human Genetics and Medical Genomics theme of the School of Human Development and Health; Faculty of Medicine. The post holder will integrate across both Schools and within a multidisciplinary PCD group, collaborating closely with the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust members, the Wessex Genomics Service Laboratory, and with national service partners and external collaborators.
