About the Role

As an IT Support Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the University’s 13,000 Windows, Mac, and Linux computers, helping academics, staff, and students resolve a wide range of technical issues.

You'll be part of a dynamic environment where every day presents new challenges. Depending on your assignment, you may work within any of our three IT support teams:

  • Service Desk – Providing remote support via phone, email, and chat.
  • Outreach – Delivering in-person technical support at desks, labs, or other on-site locations.
  • Tech Hub – Offering face-to-face support at our drop-in hubs.

Our current vacancies are in the Service Desk, Outreach and the Tech Hub teams based at our City Centre and Winchester campuses. All positions require on campus working in either Southampton or Winchester, we do not offer hybrid working contracts.

Regardless of the team you join, your goal will be to provide the same fast, effective solutions, resolving issues on the spot whenever possible.

What you’ll do

  • Provide support for the University’s staff and students in the use of just about any technology they need for their work or studies.
  • Support systems including Azure, Office365, SharePoint and a wide variety of other applications and services.
  • Take ownership of support incidents and use your troubleshooting skills to see them through to resolution.
  • Provide advice and guidance that enables our customers to harness the full power of the available technology.
  • You will be working a 35-hour week with hours varying between 8am and 6pm depending on requirements.
