Test Analyst – Student App

This is an exceptional time to be joining the University of Southampton to help support quality delivery of a new Student App designed to provide a transformational digital mobile student experience. The role sits within the University’s IT department, iSolutions. The dynamic and agile Student App project team is an exciting group working to produce a compelling product for the University student community.

About the Role

This is a key role in support of quality delivery of the Student App product. Providing technical test services within an agile software delivery and maintenance lifecycle, the role offers the test professional the opportunity to validate product quality assurance at all stages of development and operation.
  The Student App project team have the mandate to deliver transformational solutions & work with   positive, focused attitudes. 

What you’ll do

  • Take responsibility for all aspects of testing across the Student App delivery project, including technical system and integration testing and user acceptance testing (UAT). Provide test capabilities which cover both functional and non-functional application requirements.
  • Ensure testing standards are met throughout development, configuration, and release stages.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders within iSolutions and across the wider university to define and schedule testing capabilities and requirements.
  • Develop functional test automation capabilities and define test automation strategy
  • Develop relationships with external partners to improve response to non-functional test demand.
  • Build and maintain test progress reporting against key performance indicators. 

What you’ll bring 

  • Designing and implementation testing strategies and standards.
  • Security of information and data within test environments.
  • Ability to articulate test and quality assurance requirements, often at a technical level, directly to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, work well under pressure and manage stakeholder and institutional expectations.
  • Hands-on experience planning and progressing test activities within professional guidelines and/or organisational policy.
  • Applying fundamental functional and non-functional test strategies  to meet system, system integration, and user acceptance testing demands.
  • Experience of DevOps practices and culture.
  • Achieved a minimum of ISTQB/ISEB Foundation Level Certification
  • Experience designing and implementing test regimes while working in a strategic ‘cloud first’ environment.
