Research Fellow

The Faculty of Medicine is seeking a well-qualified and highly motivated quantitative researcher to join a small team of researchers and statisticians. The postholder’s focus will be to undertake a meta-epidemiological study to investigate the impact of placebo blinding in randomised trials of respiratory infections in primary care. The postholder will identify eligible studies and assist with data extraction and data analysis.

We invite applications from candidates who have a PhD or equivalent qualifications and experience in a quantitative field, such as Statistics, Medical Statistics, Health Services Research or Psychology. You will have a detailed understanding and knowledge of statistical modelling and of software packages for carrying out statistical modelling, e.g., Stata, R, SAS, SPSS. Meticulous attention to detail will be required in preparing study protocols and reports and experience of meta-analysis is desirable. You will be able to organise your own activities to deadline and quality standards to ensure the efficient and timely completion of the study.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
