Research Fellow: The Healthy Low-carbon Transport Hub (HLTH)

We wish to appoint a Research Fellow to work within a Research Fellow to work within an exciting five-year transdisciplinary, multicentre Hub which aims to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon transport solutions that maximise health co-benefits and reduce health inequalities.

The Healthy Low-carbon Transport Hub (LHTH) has been established to lead research into maximising the health benefits of low-carbon transport. The role will support transdisciplinary working and evidence synthesis, contributing to the development of a transdisciplinary conceptualisation of Healthy Transport Systems and a new transdisciplinary assessment framework for planning and transportation schemes.

The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team to manage the day-to-day running of the research. Responsibilities will include: systematic reviewing and evidence synthesis, project management (coordination and reporting), maintaining high quality research procedures, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, developing transdisciplinary ways of working, writing up findings in reports and publications, presenting at conferences, and supporting grant, ethics and research governance applications.

This is a joint post between the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering at the University of Southampton.

The post holder will be hybrid and based at both the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education and the Department of Civil, Maritime and Environmental Engineering.

You will have a relevant PhD or equivalent research-related qualifications a health/ public health/ epidemiology/ healthcare/ economics/ transport engineering, or social science related subject, and experience in systematic reviewing, evidence synthesis, qualitative and quantitative data skills.

Experience in inter/transdisciplinary working is highly desirable.

Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon completion of PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
