Computer/Data Support Specialist

The School of Ocean and Earth Science is seeking to recruit a permanent Computing/Data Support Specialist. This individual will support computationally-intensive research and education within the Geology & Geophysics, and Physical Oceanography groups within the School of Ocean and Earth Science. We are seeking a proactive, highly-organised individual who enjoys working in a team environment. The post will be based at the University of Southampton Waterfront Campus.

The role and about you

You will support academic staff, PhD students and undergraduate students within the Physical Oceanography and Geology & Geophysics research groups with computationally-intensive research and education. This will include support of subject specific software on Windows and Linux workstations, as well as supporting specific research projects. 

To be successful in this role

You will have relevant computing skills and experience and be highly organised and able to manage competing priorities. Strong communication skills are needed to provide specialist advice, guidance and recommendations.
