Research Fellow in Optofluidic Systems

Applications are invited for Research Fellow position within the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. The work will involve the development of an miniature deployable system for analysing microparticles in water.   The post is part of a three year European project (Aquamon) and you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with partners throughout Europe.

The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and experience in a relevant physical/engineering science. The candidates must possess detailed knowledge and experience in design and fabrication of microfluidic systems, with demonstratable skills in sensors, micro-fabrication, electronics and programming.

We are looking for a self-motivated person, able to organise their own research activities effectively, and collaborate successfully across disciplines.  The successful candidate will be a good communicator and will be expected to take the lead in preparing reports, presenting results to the consortium and writing research papers.   You must also be able to work effectively in a team and organize time, tasks and responsibilities with other team members.
