This will be the first part of a series planned appointments over the next five years. You will have an exciting opportunity to influence the Ocean and Earth sciences agenda within a world leading school at the University of Southampton.  Our School takes pride in research that spans marine biology and ecology, physical oceanography, palaeoceanography and paleoclimate, marine biogeochemistry, geology and geophysics and geochemistry. Southampton’s interdisciplinary philosophy and world-leading expertise and laboratory infrastructure, makes our Palaeoceanography and Palaeoclimate research group an ideal environment for researchers to pursue innovative data-driven science. Our overarching interests are to link biological, geological and chemical data to identify the interplay between biotic and abiotic variation in shaping long-term ecological and evolutionary responses, to unpick the processes that underpin ecosystem functioning and to understand what a 1.5 to 4.5°C warmer world means for ecosystem-based management.

You will demonstrate a passion for education and an ability to enhance our undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum in Ocean and Earth science.

Strong applicants should demonstrate:

  • A doctorate and postdoctoral experience in a relevant discipline
