We are seeking to appoint a nursing Lecturer/ Senior Teaching Fellow, active on the NMC register with a children’s nursing qualification and clinical experience of children’s nursing. You will help us to design and deliver our highly valued children’s nursing and dual qualification nursing courses, and contribute to our developing research portfolio.

About the faculty

Our faculty has a strong record of providing an excellent research environment and delivering research with national and international impact. There is a collegiate culture across health care professions and integration with other disciplines within the university. We were ranked joint 1st for Nursing in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework assessment. We are at the fore front of children’s nursing with our academics publishing the 1st nursing theory for children and their childhoods, and leading the team to create and update the UK leading children’s nursing textbook ( Glasper and Richardson 2010) ( further details).

The job

Our vision is to lead nursing in a global digitalised world by developing our students and staff leadership and innovation skills, such that all will have a pride in their clinically led innovative nursing, nursing education and research at Southampton, which will influence people around the world. You will work with a dedicated, experienced children’s nursing education team with a developing research portfolio.

Daily activities include:

  • You will contributing to the design and delivery of child health programmes including module leadership, session delivery and marking activities,
  • help develop the children’s nursing research portfolio with researchers in the child health group,
  • act as a personal academic tutor to students,
  • liaising with the programme managers and senior executive team members to deliver the nursing research and education strategy,
  • liaise with clinical practice partners to maintain effective partnership working.

A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service clearance at Enhanced level is also required
