The Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications from a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join Faculty Central as a Faculty Administrative Officer at Highfield Campus. As a member of our team, you will make an important and rewarding contribution to our exciting, varied and engaging activity across our University, working with colleagues and students from diverse and interesting backgrounds.

Faculty Central works with Faculty Deanery and Senior Leadership Teams to support those areas of work which provide essential services to the Faculty's core business of education, research and enterprise. We underpin the achievement of the strategic objectives of the University. Our students and staff come from a wide range of backgrounds, within the UK and internationally, creating a multicultural and diverse community. The successful applicant will be a motivated and proactive team player who is culturally sensitive and able to work effectively in a busy environment.

As a Faculty Administrative Officer, you will deliver a high quality and efficient service which meets the requirements of the Faculty’s varied and interesting activities across five academic schools, including Business; Law; Mathematical Sciences; Education; and Economic, Political and Social Sciences. You will provide professional, operational assistance and administrative support to senior academic members of staff, performing a range of responsibilities which might include working on projects and activities, diary management and event organisation, travel arrangements, minute taking, financial administration, website updates and organising group meetings. You will be able to build strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external organisations and groups and be able to liaise confidently with your stakeholders. Your career so far might include some administrative work experience which allows you to use your own initiative, as well as manage your own time effectively with minimal supervision. Excellent organisational, communication and people skills are essential. You will have good IT skills for example being a competent user of Microsoft Office.

This role may suit either a motivated professional with relevant work experience looking for career development or a recent graduate with some experience looking for an opportunity to explore career opportunities within a university environment.
