Salary:   £30,395 to £37,345 per annum

You will join our team of over 40 researchers to work on the design, fabrication and characterisation of silicon photonic devices. The project, which is backed by industrial funding, will be supervised by Dr David Thomson who has a strong, internationally renowned track record in silicon photonics, and will involve significant interaction with the industry team. The focus of the team is in the field of Silicon Photonics, based at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, UK. 

A PhD* or professional qualifications and experience in Electronics or Photonics is essential as is an understanding of silicon photonic technology and its integration with electronic devices and experience of the characterisation of high-speed electronic and photonic devices. Experience in the simulation of optical modulators is desirable.

*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

The post will be for up to 18 months in duration due to funding restrictions.
