Applications are invited for a full time fixed term Research Fellow position at the University of Southampton. You will join the Tavassoli lab, to work as part of a multidisciplinary team funded by Cancer Research UK. The project will identify, assess and develop compounds that selectively inhibit the protein-protein interaction between KRAS and its effector proteins. This work will be conducted in collaboration with scientists at the Francis Crick Institute and Barts Cancer Institute. The project initially involved the identification of cyclic peptide and small molecule inhibitors of the above protein-protein interaction. We are now seeking a Research Fellow with experience in chemical biology and biophysics, to further characterize the lead compounds from our screens.

It is essential you have a PhD in chemical biology or biochemistry or related discipline eg chemical biology and biophysics to further characterise the lead compounds from our screens, and a track record of academic and research excellence. You will have extensive experience and expertise in biophysical methods of characterising ligand-protein interactions, and be familiar with standard molecular biology techniques such as cloning and protein expression.

The post will initially be offered for 12 months, with the potential for extension for the duration of the grant dependent upon funding. For additional information please contact Professor Ali Tavassoli by email (ali1@soton.ac.uk). For more information on the Tavassoli lab, please see the group’s website www.personal.soton.ac.uk/ali1.
