Please see below details of a new * temporary * assignment. 

We are looking for 2 x Landscape Maintenance Operatives to work on temporary basis. The successful candidates will undertake landscape and gardens maintenance whilst working with minimum supervision, carrying out practical skilled maintenance and new work operations to set standards and schedules. 

Assignment 1 (2896-19): Based at Various Halls of Residence, primarily at Glen Eyre Halls SO16 3UF

Start Date: ASAP 

End date: 18th December 2019

Working Hours: 28 hours per week - Monday to Thursday - 8am to 3.30pm (30 minutes unpaid break and ±20minutes paid break)

Assignment 2 (3019-19) : Based at Highfield Campus SO17 1BJ

Start Date: ASAP 

End date: 31st January 2020

Working hours: 36 hours per week - Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm (30 minutes unpaid break and ±20minutes paid break) and Friday 8am to 12.00 noon

Please note a driving licence is required for these roles

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Competently carrying out with some supervision; soil cultivation, manuring, site preparation; planting and surgery to trees, shrubs, plants, turfing, grass seed sowing, grass cutting
  • Operating and adjustment of tractors, ride-on mowers, hand mowers and other horticultural equipment to ensure optimum performance
  • Carrying out similar associated tasks e.g. litter clearance, when requested
  • Using equipment involved in landscape maintenance including road vehicles, trailers etc.

Desirable skills:

  • City & Guilds Advanced National Certificate in Horticulture or NVQ level 3 
  • Relevant work experience in a horticultural or landscape maintenance environment.
