NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Surgery (General Surgery, with cancer interest).

With Honorary Specialist Registrar appointment in the same specialty.

Salary £48,075pa (for those who were below ST3 on August 2016) or £33,790 to £59,765 pa (for those who were ST3 or above on 2 August 2016) – plus appropriate Banding.

The University of Southampton, together with University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust, wish to appoint a Clinical Lecturer in Surgery.  The post is funded by NIHR and the successful appointee will be a trainee in General Surgery.

The post-holder will have clinical commitments designed to fulfil the candidate’s Higher Specialist Training needs (at Southampton University Hospital NHS Trust or where necessary other NHS Trusts determined by the relevant Specialty Training Committee and Programme Training Director), develop their own postdoctoral programme of clinical or laboratory based research and to develop the candidate’s teaching and training portfolio.  The post is subject to terms and conditions of service determined by the University of Southampton and in its honorary clinical capacity by the University Hospital Southampton Foundation NHS Trust Board and other NHS Trust boards as required.

You must have appropriate experience in the surgical specialty and a track record in, and commitment to, research and teaching.  Applicants must have a higher degree e.g. a PhD awarded prior to taking up the post.  A satisfactory DBS disclosure at Enhanced level is required for this post. The post is fixed term for 4 years.
