The University of Southampton seeks an outstanding individual for the position of Associate Director of Alumni & Supporter Engagement.

You will be responsible for the design and delivery of the University’s global engagement strategy for alumni and supporters.  Reporting to the Director of Development & Alumni Relations, this role includes developing the communication and engagement strategy to support the £100m Campaign for Southampton—this is a career-defining opportunity.

As a key member of the senior management team, you will drive activity and develop new approaches to ensure that the overarching objectives of engaging Southampton’s 245,000 alumni and increasing our foundation of regular donors continues to grow. You will embrace our strong culture of accountability and the opportunity to measure the impact of alumni and supporter engagement in real terms.

Working collaboratively, collegially and confidently with senior leadership of the University, the Associate Director will bring a creative, strategic, collaborative and innovative approach to the alumni and supporter engagement team. As a part of the Advancement & Engagement Directorate, strong partnership across the Directorate is vital, to ensure a wholly integrated and high-performing external engagement arm.

The University of Southampton is a world-leading, research-intensive university, in the top 100 universities worldwide. The campus is set in beautiful green surroundings, with easy access to the centre of Southampton, the coast and the New Forest. The city itself is vibrant and diverse, with a unique waterfront and rich heritage.

The Development and Alumni Relations office is well-established; it was founded in the 1980s and has expanded significantly in the last 10 years. We recently concluded the award-winning Cancer Immunology Campaign and are now in the planning phase for the £100m Campaign for Southampton.  University leadership is committed to growing and developing the potential of the team and driving forward the University’s transformation strategy through income generation and meaningful engagement with alumni and supporters.
