Engineering the future

Imagine an environment that allows you the opportunity to 'change the world' - this will be your reality.  Based in our research and teaching laboratories you will be working with our academic community (Lecturers and Professors) along with our eager students to help them bring their creations to life. In this pivotal role you will translate your high levels of technical expertise into terminology that is understood by those less experienced and be persuasive in your approach to ensure ideas that are not well formed result in a positive outcome.

As the 'go to expert', you'll have a broad knowledge base and experience enabling you to offer sound advice on the design and use of experimental items, including chemicals and heat treatment equipment. You will also focus on the maintenance and repair of equipment along with training those less experienced in the safe and appropriate use of materials and surface characterisation techniques including sample preparation, microscopy, tribology measurements, metallography and etching.  You will not be afraid to challenge norms and pitch in with new ideas to enhance the student experience and drive forward results.

Your designated working hours are 08.30 am – 4.30 pm with a 1 hour break - Monday to Friday.  On occasions you may be required to work outside of these times as designated by the Head of Department or their representative.

Equality, diversity and Inclusion is central to the ethos in the School of Engineering.
