We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Administrative Officer to join the WorldPop Research Group within the School of Geography and Environmental Science (SOGES). 

You will provide a professional administrative service to a busy research group, based at Cumberland House, Grosvenor Square, Southampton. 

The work will involve:

  • Organizing the smooth day-to-day running of the office
  • Contributing to the development of WorldPop administrative systems, carrying out administrative processes and ensuring controls are in place to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintaining administrative documentation 
  • Comprehensive travel management using University's travel systems and procedures
  • Full meeting/event management
  • Ensuring regular and timely communication within WorldPop, colleagues at SOGES, Faculty and wider University, and establishing good working relationships with representatives of partner organisations. 

You should have a skill level equivalent to achievement of NVQ2, GCSE or City and Guilds, along with previous work experience within an administrative or secretarial support role. Skill level equivalent to achievement of NVQ3, A-Level or City and Guilds is highly desirable.

Excellent organisational, planning, and IT skills and experience in similar roles are essential, coupled with attention to detail, the ability to manage your own time effectively, the ability to be resourceful under pressure, and a can-do attitude.
