The impact of matching mechanisms on consumer behaviour and O2O business operations

A fully funded studentship awarded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership (SCDTP) commencing in 2020/21 Academic Year.

Being a part of the University of Southampton, an institution in the top 1% of world Universities, we are seeking an outstanding PhD student to undertake research as part of the South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership. The focus of this project is to combine market theories and Data Sciences to design the optimal matching mechanism implemented in apps for an O2O business. Potential students should have experiences in one of the following areas: Economics, Statistics, Machine Learning or Data Sciences. Priority will be given to those with the potential or experiences in conducting interdisciplinary studies.

Skills Required

Potential students should receive training or have experiences in one of the following areas: Economics, Statistics, Machine Learning and Data Sciences. Priority will be given to candidates with the potential or experiences in conducting interdisciplinary research and are keen to learn new knowledge, analytical methods, or programming skills.

Funding

South Coast DTP Funding provides an annual maintenance grant (tax free) of £15,009 (2019/20 UKRI rate), plus payment of all programme fees.  Other funding available for SCDTP funded students can be found on the SCDTP website (www.southcoastdtp.ac.uk).

Funding is provided for 3 years full-time PhD study (pro-rata for part-time students).  Applications for 1+3 funding for students completing a Master's year prior to the commencement of PhD study are also welcome (details available at www.southcoastdtp.ac.uk).
