You will join one of the renowned academic silicon photonics groups in the world comprising over 40 researchers headed-up by a pioneer of silicon photonics, Professor Graham Reed, to work on the fabrication of silicon photonic devices.  

Based at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton, UK, you will be working on industry backed projects supervised by Dr David Thomson and Dr Callum Littlejohns who have strong, internationally renowned track records in silicon photonics.  We will provide you the opportunity to own a device fabrication work package with the possibility of driving the direction of work.

To be successful it is essential you have a PhD* or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Electronics, Photonics, or semiconductor fabrication along with experience of working in a cleanroom environment, experience in semiconductor/photonic device fabrication and experience in metrology techniques such as SEM. A specific understanding of silicon photonic technology and fabrication is desirable as is experience of process development.

The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

The post will be for up to 24 months in duration.
