The Student Experience Directorate at the University of Southampton is seeking to appoint an experienced senior leader to join the Student Experience Leadership team. The role will have responsibility for the leadership, management and delivery of the ‘Modernising Student Experience’ programme, a key transformation programme that seeks to develop our approach to the delivery of services for students. This will enable rapid development of the student experience and will contribute directly to the University’s Strategic Plan and its aims to improve the student experience. 

This new role will act as the Business Owner for this Programme and as such will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of the programme, accountable to the Sponsor. They will ensure that the programme delivers against its objectives, remains viable and provides value. Importantly, they will define the required programme outputs and benefit and ensure the programme is focussed on achieving its objectives and delivers the required outcomes and benefits.

The role holder will be part of the overall Student Experience Programme Board and will contribute to the successful delivery of the wider Student Experience programme of work. They will also line directly line manager key staff who will help to deliver the programme of work. 

We are seeking a colleague who has significant demonstrable experience of leading change within the context of student facing services. S/he must have experience of delivering across a whole university and of engaging colleagues at all levels from the institution in a change journey. They should have excellent team leadership, organisational and project management skills and be able to deliver to deadlines and manage multiple activities. They will be a confident, credible and inspirational individual with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, keen to apply innovative and creative approaches to the way the university interacts with students.
