Southampton Law School –   Professor of Law

Applications are invited for a Chair in Law at Southampton Law School (level 7).

As a Law School, we are committed to high quality legal education and scholarship. To that end, we intend to strengthen our research and teaching across the curriculum and we are currently making a series of appointments at differing levels. This appointment is to add to our professorial strength and we would welcome applications, particularly, from candidates with an interest in Arbitration Law, Company Law, Employment Law, Environmental Law and Intellectual Property Law.

Successful candidates will have a PhD in Law or equivalent professional qualifications and experience.

Successful candidates will have an international reputation in research with evidence of contribution to research networks and public policy engagement. You will have a track record of excellence in education including programme design and delivery at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will be able to demonstrate proven leadership on research outputs and outreach, including on research funding. You will demonstrate a commitment to building a vibrant student experience and community. Visible, engaged, and collegiate, you will join with the senior management team in advancing the School’s strategic goals and building its profile nationally and internationally.  

Research in the Law School currently clusters around a number of research centres including those for Private and Commercial Law (PCL); Maritime Law (IML); Law, Policy and Society (CLPS); Health Ethics and Law (HEAL); Law, Internet and Culture (iClic) and the Stefan Cross Centre for Women, Equality and Law. Colleagues are also involved in individual and collaborative scholarship in numerous other fields, often inter-disciplinary.
