Taking responsibility for all HR advisory services, you will therefore provide the type of visionary strategic advice on people plans that will ensure we maintain our world-class reputation. 

As there is no one currently performing this role, you will have plenty of scope to shape the role as you see fit. One such area that needs developing and modernising is employee engagement, so we will give you all the support you need to embrace this key opportunity. One of two directors reporting to the Executive Director HR, you will lead from the front. Coming up with new ways to quickly and efficiently measure staff engagement and act on your findings, you will tackle everything from change management, to the best ways to recruit and retain talent. With oversight of our client-facing HR Business Partners, your reach will take you from shaping transformation initiatives to building a pipeline of talent that will benefit the next generation of students. 

This role won’t just provide you with the chance to shape and embed industry-leading concepts, it will provide you with access to some of the world’s leading thinkers – plus the chance to build relationships with them for the good of the university. As such, you’ll excel here if you’re a collaborative team-player who can combine patience with plenty of ambition. With a pragmatic approach to getting the job done, you’ll enjoy every minor victory. On a practical level, you will have organisational development experience, with a strong knowledge of employee relations and great mentoring skills. With knowledge of working in a unionised environment, you will be an analytical thinker with plenty of emotional intelligence and the capacity to solve complex problems.
