About the role

This is a hugely exciting opportunity for a Head of Agile Delivery, who understands the opportunities to learn, grow and lead teams to make a difference and join our pioneering digital transformation programme, OneWeb, which is about to enter a new phase.

You’ll be responsible for the delivery of key strategic objectives through a large agile multi-disciplinary team. We’re dedicated to developing a new user-centred information and support service for many of our users groups - from applying to a course, to finding research collaborations and much more.

This programme is fast-paced and hugely ambitious. We need someone to be accountable for the overall planning, delivery, measurement and development of a complex multi-year programme.

What you'll do

  • Work alongside the Business Owner (Head of Digital) to lead and motivate multiple multi-disciplinary teams, helping them organise and plan their work, ensuring they make progress and create services that meet users’ needs.
  • Accountable for the phasing and delivery against overall programme vision.
  • Ensure teams clearly communicate their approach, plans and learning.
  • Provide information and structures that support effective governance.
  • Identify the people, skills and resources that the teams need to deliver to the agreed goals.
  • Identify, communicate and manage risks, issues, dependencies and blockers.
  • Reporting back on progress of multiple projects to Programme Board and 10 Year Plan (Change Portfolio Office).
  • Manage stakeholders to ensure good relations and effective communication.
  • Actively lead and take full accountability for the deployment of Agile practice to the benefit of the University.
  • Lead in the Delivery Manager community, learning, sharing and applying skills and knowledge to improve.

What you'll have:

  • A significant track record of successfully delivering digital programmes and services, leading from initiation to delivery and support whilst planning, coordinating and motivating multi-site teams through the full product lifecycle.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills to be able to mediate and communicate with stakeholders at all levels (senior to executive) and between organisational, technical and departmental boundaries.
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of agile methodologies and demonstrable experience of how they help deliver products and services at scale.
  • Experience of flexibly managing and deploying people, teams, and other environmental factors to resolve and manage impediments, blockers and risks.
  • Experience of providing support and constructive feedback as they move through the lifecycle phases.
  • Be able to quickly get up to speed with product and university contexts, in order to create a positive environment for delivery.
  • Managing and mentoring team members, providing them with guidance, training and constructive feedback.
