About the role

This is a hugely exciting opportunity for a committed User Experience (UX) designer to help our teams generate visual concepts based on users' insights, so we can design and deliver the services they need as part of our pioneering digital transformation programme, OneWeb, which is about to enter a new phase.

You’ll be joining a large agile multi-disciplinary and co-located team dedicated to developing a new user-centered information and support service for many of our users groups - from applying to a course, to finding research collaborations and much more.

This programme is fast-paced and hugely ambitious. We need someone who can be accountable for user-centred designs across our service teams.

What you'll do

  • Problem solve complex design problems, iterate and test solutions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to build up a rich picture of our users.
  • Work closely with product managers, user researchers, content designers, service designer, other UX and technical disciplines and university functions to turn our user research findings into visual concepts.
  • Communicate and explain design, concepts, ideas and the logic and thinking behind them.
  • Embed accessibility into visual designs and concepts that meet users' needs.

What you’ll have

  • Demonstrable experience of advocating for design research and championing for all users.
  • Demonstrable experience in design research, including at least one other UX discipline (such as interaction design, visual design etc.).
  • Ability to incorporate UX into agile development sprints, coordinating with content designers, developers, service designers and product managers to achieve a strategic vision.
  • A strong understanding of techniques, tools, patterns, and collaborative skills to share knowledge expert advice with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to organise and structure complex information to help diverse audiences easily find what they need.
