About the role

This is a hugely exciting opportunity for a user-focused service designer, who understands the need to design and deliver joined-up, end-to-end services as part of our pioneering digital transformation programme, OneWeb, which is about to enter a new phase.

You’ll be joining a large agile multi-disciplinary and co-located team dedicated to developing a new user-centred information and support service for many of our users groups - from applying to a course, to finding research collaborations and much more.

This project is fast-paced and hugely ambitious. We need someone who can be accountable for designing the environment, standards, patterns and structure to support better services designed for those that need to access them.

What you'll do

  • Establish and iterate the end-to-end service design for the University in light of the evolving needs of our users and business.
  • Work closely with user researchers, content designers, product managers, other UX and technical disciplines and university functions to create better services for our users.
  • Problem solve complex service design challenges and collaboratively engage to design experiences for all communities at the University, whether students, researchers, enterprise, academic or professional staff, and others.
  • Work with business owners, delivery managers and digital product teams to ensure that delivery initiatives collectively deliver the approved service design.

What you’ll have

  • Demonstrable experience of working at a senior level in user-centred design
  • Deep knowledge and experience within design thinking/human-centred design, ideally skilled in inspiring change within an organisation
  • Ability to translate behaviour-based consumer insights into an actionable strategic roadmap through synthesising both qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Experience of working to produce service mapping and systems thinking from a customer-centred perspective.
  • Ability to work autonomously while managing tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Demonstrable experience of service design implemented in the real world as part of a digital service team (and results) from a previous role.
