An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Faculty of Medicine (Cancer Sciences/Clinical and Experimental Sciences) for a Research Fellow focused on immune-oncology bioinformatics and transcriptomics in the laboratories of Professor Christian Ottensmeier and Dr Tilman Sanchez-Elsner. The main goals will be to analyse single-cell transcriptomics and multi-omic data sets from lung cancer and to further our understanding of lung immune biology. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of researchers with existing data to enable immediate analysis.  This post will work closely with bioinformaticians, molecular biologists, clinicians, and other collaborators to better understand how tumour microenvironment determines responses to existing therapies and the efficacy of immunotherapy.

We are seeking a Research Fellow primarily in the area of bioinformatics but with a strong understanding of transcriptomics analysis and machine learning.  The ideal candidate will have earned their Ph.D*. or have equivalent experience in an area such as bioinformatics, biostatistics, or computational biology, or from a cross-disciplinary program that included one of these areas of study.  Essential skills required for this position include proficiency in a Unix/Linux environment and a statistical package (e.g. R or Matlab), as well as an additional programming language (e.g., python, perl, C++, etc).  Individuals with experience in any of these additional areas are strongly encouraged to apply: transcriptomics (e.g. single cell transcriptomics, microarray and RNA-Seq), cancer biology, immunology, predictive modeling and machine learning.

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification.  The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD.  Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
