Changing Health Ltd is an innovative digital health company dedicated to delivering structured education, behaviour change interventions and individual coaching for the management and prevention of chronic diseases. Changing Health’s services are commissioned by the NHS (Clinical Commissioning Groups), health insurers (UK and overseas), and health service providers.

University of Southampton

This is an exciting opportunity to join the large and successful team in the Centre for Clinical and Community Applications of Health Psychology in the Academic Unit of Psychology. The Associate will need to utilise expertise from the University’s Academic Unit of Psychology, which will involve close working relationships with Dr Judith Joseph and Professor Lucy Yardley.

The KTP Associate will be an employee of the University of Southampton and will be based at Changing Health’s premises in Newcastle.

The project

This project involves developing and evaluating an app to support people to lose weight to help manage their diabetes. As a KTP Associate, you will be employed by the University of Southampton on a 1-year fixed term contract, but you will be based at Changing Health’s premises in Newcastle, working with the company team. You will receive supervision from the Changing Health team and the academic team at the University of Southampton. The project is at the heart of Changing Health’s innovation and growth strategy for developing evidence-based best practice in digital behaviour change. There may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to continue to work with Changing Health after completion of the project.

You will have the following attributes:

  • Masters or equivalent professional qualifications and experience relevant to changing eating behaviour. A Psychologist or Dietician with a PhD is desirable.
  • Ability to organise research and/or business activities efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including meticulous attention to detail in preparing written materials.
  • Ability to transfer ideas and information between the University of Southampton and Changing Health.
  • Able to work proactively in a team and engage with external suppliers and customers.
