Zepler Institute for Photonics and Nanoelectronics

The ZIPN, home of the world leading Optoelectronics Research Centre, is a multidisciplinary research centre at the forefront of nanoelectronics and photonics. We have contributed significantly to the remarkable growth of the photonics industry, including the optical telecommunication technology that underpins the internet together with innovative solutions in medicine, biosciences sensing, security and manufacturing.   We have leading groups in metamaterials, 2D materials and the next generation of optical fibres.

Our research covers a diverse set of novel devices and materials and includes the creation and characterization of nanoelectronic systems and the study of bio-inspired devices. 

Leading the Business Development team, you will be responsible for working alongside academics to  develop our industrial/Research Funders engagement plan for the ORC/ZI and will play a key role in the negotiations with external stakeholders and industry partners regarding commercial operations across the ORC/ZI with particular focus on increasing the utilisation and income into our cleanroom complex, the largest multidisciplinary cleanroom of its type in the UK.

Commercially astute and technologically aware, you will help to shape relationships, secure funding, and develop strong mutually beneficial partnerships.  With excellent communication skills, commercial flair and attention to detail, you will be well organised with the ability to multi-task and work well as part of a dedicated team. 

You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment.  If you have the relevant expertise and experience with a keen interest to support impactful industry engagement and a proven track record of networking and building strong partnerships, then we would like to hear from you.
