Full Time Permanent
Closing Date:  Monday 17 February 2020

We are looking to recruit a high-performing individual, experienced in organising large corporate/donor events, to join our Engagement and Advancement Events team within the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR). As the Senior Events Officer, you will work alongside the Events Manager to deliver a portfolio of events, which engages key audiences globally, meets specific objectives and aligns with wider University priorities. This role will work on a number of high-profile philanthropic events each year, linked to university fundraising opportunities as well as a wider events programme that engages our staff and student community.

The ideal candidate will have a broad range of event expertise covering all key aspects of the role as detailed in the job description and person specification. You will need to be highly motivated, have excellent communication, organisation and prioritisation skills, be confident working alongside senior stakeholders, and be able to use your own initiative to complete tasks and projects to strict deadlines. Candidates will also need to show understanding of how strategic events can enhance fundraising and engagement activities - able to develop creative event ideas and proposals that are both audience-centric and objective-led.

ODAR completed its first major fundraising campaign for a new Centre for Cancer Immunology in 2018, raising £25million. Now, an ambitious, historic £100m Campaign for Southampton is taking shape. This exciting role within ODAR will help support fundraising and engagement activities that help us achieve the Campaign’s vision.

Just over an hour outside London in a beautiful location surrounded by the sea and forest, the University of Southampton ranks among the UK’s top research-intensive universities and is a place of transformation. Through education and research, innovation and enterprise, we unlock potential and provide opportunities that transform the lives of our students, our community, society and the economy.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 5 March 2020.
