Research Funding Manager (International)

The University of Southampton is a research-intensive university across many disciplines, with research income of over £122 million in 2018-19 (of which nearly a quarter is from European and international sources).

Research and Innovation Services are now seeking to appoint a Research Funding Manager (International) to join the Research Funding Development team. You will work within a professional team and provide the strategic focus for European and international funding sources at the University (including official development assistance (ODA) sources).  You will keep up to date with the latest developments in this rapidly changing funding landscape.  In addition to advising Faculties and individual researchers on the best ways to maximise funding opportunities for international collaborations, you will help identify major opportunities and support academics throughout the bid stages of major research programmes. You will provide specialist advice on rules for participation to facilitate access to these funding streams which are of strategic importance to the University.

Educated to at least degree level, you must have knowledge and experience of funding sources for international collaborations (Europe, Global Challenge Research Fund, ODA), of the key European and International funding agencies, their policies, procedures and funding mechanisms for research.  You will have excellent communication skills, be well-organised with the ability to multi-task and to lead, manage and motivate a team of three staff. You will be a self-starter and enjoy the challenge of making things happen in a fast-moving environment.
