We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow to join the Neuroblastoma Immunotherapy Group. This group, led by Dr Juliet Gray, has a long-standing interest in immunotherapy for childhood cancers, with a focus on the development and translation of novel antibody therapies for neuroblastoma, one of the commonest and most aggressive of the paediatric malignancies.   

The post will involve providing leadership and oversight to pre-clinical work developing novel antibody therapies for neuroblastoma using a range of established pre-clinical models. This will include involvement in current projects, investigating and optimising mechanisms of action of antibody therapies, exploring novel combinational therapies and identifying potential biomarkers. In additional the successful candidate will contribute to design and funding applications for future projects.

The successful candidate should have significant relevant research experience and be qualified to PhD level, or equivalent professional qualifications, in biological sciences and have previous research experience in the field of cancer immunotherapy or immunology.  They will be highly motivated, with the ability to contribute actively to new research grant applications and collaborations.

They will be a good team player with excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of delivering research tasks timely and with accuracy. They will have a senior and supervisory role within a multi-disciplinary team that includes research technicians, PhD students and clinical trainees.  

This post will be based in the new Centre for Cancer Immunology on the Southampton General Hospital campus. This has brand new, purpose built facilities and hosts a range of world class cancer immunology basic, translational and clinical research.
