The post has multiple strands: (1) two large-scale online studies taking place over several months (2) a classroom intervention testing the efficacy of successive relearning in an applied context (3) development of a website that implements successive relearning that will be useable by other educators. There are five objectives to the research:

  • Objective 1. Identify successive relearning schedules that optimise student learning in an efficient manner across a variety of teaching and learning contexts.

  • Objective 2. Identify the underlying learning mechanisms of successive relearning that make it effective for memory retention.

  • Objective 3. Explore positive effects of successive relearning on other aspects of the student experience such as the (a) promotion of new learning, (b) enhancement of metacognitive monitoring, academic self-efficacy, and attentional control, and (c) reduction in students' worry and anxiety.

  • Objective 4. Test the robustness of SR by implementing it locally, within a large undergraduate psychology module and with a specific focus on transfer of learning to new material.

  • Objective 5. Use the research described above to develop a Learning Practice (LEAP) website that can be widely used as a learning tool by educators and students.
