An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and proactive person to develop our links with the faculties and other key stakeholders as part of our Student Disability and Inclusion service.  

As Student Disability Faculty Liaison lead you will work as part of a small team in supporting team leaders and specialist practitioners to develop student-focused relationships with the University’s Faculties and other key stakeholders to ensure that recommended reasonable adjustments for our disabled students are communicated and implemented smoothly and in a timely manner, within the context of the Equality Act 2010.  

The post holder will need to be agile and creative in their thinking, using their initiative to develop relationships, scrutinise systems and develop processes that are driven by student need.  In particular, you will act as an interface between key stakeholders including but not limited to, the Faculties and their respective schools, Estates and Facilities, Health, Safety and Risk, and Residences.  In this role you will be expected to:

  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders and be the first point of contact for queries relating to reasonable adjustments for disabled students. 
  • Develop and maintain a robust system for monitoring the implementation of reasonable adjustments by all stakeholders and embed these within internal systems so that student experiences can be monitored.
  • Report regularly to faculties and relevant stakeholders on progress in relation to the implementation of student recommendations.
  • Work as part of a team to promote the student support offered by Student Disability and Inclusion and develop training that promotes understanding of the Equality Act 2010
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a Student Disability and Inclusion strategy to ensure an outstanding student experience for all

Successful candidates must have a skill level equivalent to the achievement of a HND, Degree, NVQ4 or basic professional qualification in a relevant discipline plus proven work experience. An understanding of working within a Higher Education setting would be beneficial.  Applications are welcomed from those with experience in planning and managing projects and significant activity ensuring plans complement broader organisational strategy. Proven experience of working proactively and in partnership with colleagues in other work areas to achieve outcomes is essential.

Please note, being able to work flexibly is a requirement of this role; you will work both virtually and in a large open plan office and you will be part of a rota that operates from 8am –8pm across weekdays; occasional weekend and evening work is required for Open Days and Transition events for new students.
